Pocket-sized products, full-sized thinking.

iOS and Android interfaces designed for the way phones are actually used — one-handed, in motion, in thirty-second bursts between everything else.

The service

Mobile isn't a smaller website.

Apps live in a different world: interrupted sessions, patchy connections, one thumb doing all the work. Design decisions that feel fine on a monitor fall apart in a hand. We design mobile interfaces around that reality — reachable targets, forgiving flows and screens that make sense at a glance.

We design for both major platforms with respect for their conventions — iOS Human Interface Guidelines and Material patterns — so your app feels native to the device rather than like a website wearing a costume.

Deliverables cover the full product: onboarding, core flows, empty and error states, notifications surfaces and the component library that ties it all together.

01 Problems It Solves

Why apps get deleted.

?

Onboarding loses people

Users who don't reach the app's value in their first session rarely come back. We design first-run flows that deliver one clear win fast.

?

Navigation fights the thumb

Key actions out of reach, buried features, back-buttons in the wrong place — small ergonomic failures compound into abandonment.

?

The app ignores the platform

iOS users and Android users expect different patterns. A single forced design feels foreign on one platform or the other — we design for both.

Scope

What's included.

  • Flow architectureCore user journeys mapped before screens — onboarding, key tasks and the paths between them.
  • Full interface designHigh-fidelity screens for every agreed flow, designed to platform conventions for iOS, Android or both.
  • Onboarding experienceFirst-run flows, permissions asks and empty states designed to earn the second session, not just the first download.
  • Component libraryNavigation, cards, lists, inputs and feedback components built as a reusable mobile UI kit.
  • Interactive prototypeA tappable prototype of the core flows for testing, pitching or developer reference.
  • Developer handoffSpecs, assets, icon guidance and a walkthrough — everything your engineers need to build it faithfully.
02 Process

From flow map to app store assets.

01

Flows first

We map the app's core journeys and agree which flows make the MVP. A tight flow map is the difference between a focused app and a bloated one.

02

Core screens

The most-used screens get designed first and pressure-tested for reach, readability and speed — the moments your app will be judged on.

03

System & states

Components are systematised and every state designed: loading, empty, offline, error. Mobile products live in imperfect conditions — we design for them.

04

Prototype & handoff

Core flows become a tappable prototype you can test on a real phone, then organised files and specs go to your development team.

Pricing

App design rates, published.

Mobile App UI Design — A$4,800

Interactive Prototyping — A$1,200

Usability Testing on device — A$1,600 per round

* Scope note: the app design rate covers a typical MVP — up to roughly 15 screens across core flows on one platform. Dual-platform design, larger apps and ongoing design support are quoted against your flow map. Fixed quotes, agreed before work begins.
03 FAQ

Common questions about app design.

Yes. We can design to each platform's conventions separately, or create a shared design language that adapts cleanly to both — the right answer depends on your audience and build approach, which we'll discuss at kickoff.
Absolutely — most app engagements start from exactly that. We'll structure the idea into a flow map together, often adding a wireframing phase (A$1,500) before high-fidelity design so the skeleton is right before the skin goes on.
We provide icon direction and guidance as part of handoff, and can design store listing screenshots as an add-on. Full brand identity work (logo design, naming) falls outside this service but can be scoped separately.
Yes — many clients keep us on a light retainer for new features, iteration based on analytics and design QA on builds. Post-launch support is quoted separately from the initial engagement.
A description of the app's purpose and target users, any existing brand assets, and examples of apps you admire or compete with. If you have a technical spec or flow diagram already, even better — but it's not required.
